Hello Mozilla Support Team,
Today I performed a clean reinstall of my operating system, so all local Firefox profile data was permanently deleted.
After reinstalling Firefox, I signed into my Firefox Account, and my bookmarks were correctly restored via Firefox Sync.
However, my previous tabs were not restored, so I attempted to recover them.
During this process, I mistakenly imported a local bookmarks backup created today, which contained no bookmarks. Unfortunately, Firefox Sync was still enabled, and this action overwrote my previously synced bookmarks, propagating the deletion to my Firefox Account.
Important details:
- The OS reinstall and data loss happened today
- There are no local backups available (clean system install)
- The bookmarks were originally restored correctly via Sync
- The loss occurred immediately after importing the backup
- Sync was enabled at the time of the overwrite
- I stopped using Firefox immediately after realizing the issue
I understand that Firefox Sync is not a traditional backup system, but I am writing to ask if there is any possibility of recovering a previous server-side state, retained data, or performing a rollback of my synced bookmarks from before the overwrite.
These bookmarks are extremely important to me, and I am contacting support as soon as possible in case any temporary retention still exists on the server.
Thank you very much for your time and assistance.
Please let me know if you need any additional information from my account.
Kind regards,
Victor Leonny
