Thunderbird has to stop marking deleted email as read
I want Thunderbird to stop marking everything I delete as having been read. The way it works now, if I accidentally delete mail that I haven't read yet it's much more difficult to find it when everything is marked read even when it wasn't. I searched everywhere and haven't come up with a solution for this. It was reported as a bug years ago and was never fixed.

It hasn't changed, because there is not agreement that it should be changed.

For the life of me I can't understand why anyone would want the program to decide if I had read mail or not. It's easy enough for me to mark everything in my deleted folder and mark it read if I want to, but the program shouldn't do that or at least give us the option to choose how we want to work. Other mail clients don't do this.
