Firefox for Android makes it easy to manage your open tabs, switch between private and regular browsing, and access tabs from other devices using Sync. You can also customize how your tabs look and control when they close.

Access your open tabs

  1. Open Firefox on your Android device.
  2. Tap the tab icon (square with a number) in the toolbar at the bottom or top of the screen (depending on your settings).

If you don’t have any open tabs, Firefox will prompt you to open one.

Switch between regular, private, and synced tabs

Firefox organizes tabs into different categories:

Regular tabs

These are your normal browsing tabs.

Private tabs

  • Tap Private at the top of the tab view.
  • Use private tabs when you don’t want Firefox to save your browsing history or cookies.

Synced tabs

  • Tap Sync to view tabs open on other devices connected to your Firefox account.

  1. In the tab view, tap the three-dot menu at the top-right or bottom-right corner.
  2. You’ll see options to:

  1. In the tab view, tap the three-dot menu at the top-right or bottom-right corner.

You can customize:

Tab layout

  • List view
  • Grid view

Auto-close tabs

  • Never
  • After one day
  • After one week
  • After one month

Inactive tabs

  • Tabs can be moved to the Inactive tabs section based on your preferences.
